Link Building | Articles & Press Releases

• posted by Mark Farrell on Saturday, 13 February 2010 20:58

Ok, so I know it’s been a long time since I first started the series on link building, and after reading back through some of my old posts I could re-write them as things in the SEO world change so quickly. That said I suppose the basics are still the same so still definitely worth the read.

So where am I up to? Articles and Press releases. These methods for link building in my opinion can be very hit or miss. Anybody can string a 500 word article together with very little research, and then push it out through hundreds if not thousands of article directories. So how do you make this type of link building effective?

I can only speak from my own experience, and perhaps there are people out there who will disagree with me, but I feel that the only way article writing can be effective is if you put the time and effort in to making a top quality read that then gets re-published on quality sites or blogs.

Simply churning out a run of the mill 500 word article which is the same as every other article out there will not benefit you or your client at all, because the only place it will sit are on the directories that you submit them to, or useless blogs that just grab articles indiscriminately.

There are no short cuts for longevity in the SEO world and anybody who tells you there is should be ignored. Yes I agree shortcuts can get you rankings in the short term but long term you need to take it seriously and put the time and effort in. For tips on how to write a good article check out Jamie’s first post on the subject Writing? Boring?.

I’m sorry for such a short post on this subject but there isn’t really much to say other than do your research before writing an article, then do some more, then read Jamie’s article and finally take your time and write something that is worth re-publishing.

Merry Christmas from Web Vitality

• posted by Chris Buckley on Wednesday, 16 December 2009 08:50
The last couple of months have been a busy period for the team at Web Vitality as we've moved into a new office, expanded our team and have recently invested in a fast new server to host our websites.

Since we started a few years back, we've grown from a company only doing web design into one who now provide full search engine optimisation, Google Adwords, e-commerce sites, email marketing, graphic design, as well as copywriting and a host of other services.

We're constantly growing, yet at the same time we're smart enough to know where our roots lie, and that means a continued level of high quality customer service, and a dedication to quality that enables us to meet the demands of larger and larger clients.

Over the last two years, we've created sites catering for singers, luxury holidays, dream bathrooms, ingenious wrapping ideas, cheap airport parking, swine flu, and even punk rock videos!

We'd like to say thanks to our customers for choosing to work with us over the past few years and for trusting us with their website and SEO campaigns. Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today, so we're very, very grateful.

Word is continuing to go round about the quality of our work, and we're currently the only gold ranked web design company in Manchester as featured on Which Web Design Company.

If you have any questions about our company or the services we provide, please give us a call or send us an email. We're a friendly bunch and won't bite. We promise!

Have a fantastic Christmas break and a great new year!

New Web Vitality Website launched!

• posted by Chris Buckley on Wednesday, 7 October 2009 21:26
After months of hard graft, we're proud to present our new and upated website. We hope you like it!

Our old site had served us well for just over 2 years, but it was in desperate need of a revamp. However, we had a lot of praise on the simplistic aesthetics of the last site that we didn't change the look too drastically.

We left the subtle white and blue colouring, and also kept the basic structure and feel. The site was widened however, and we created a larger "page feature" area to give each page a stronger focus and uniqueness. Viewing the old site on cheaper monitors also tended to lighten the blues too much, so we made them slightly darker. Some tighter detailing, larger graphics and font size, and voila.

So, nothing too drastic, but the new site benefits tremendously from our revamp. We haven't stopped there too - we'll shortly be introducing some nifty flash graphics to give the site some "oomph", and leave a fantastic first impression. Nothing too heavy of course - in keeping with our style the graphics and load times will be slick and stylish, yet optimised and fast to load.

We'll be keeping this blog updated as often as can from now on, so you can expect updates on our latest sites, new customers, techy news and general thoughts. Also, please give a warm welcome to our newest member of the team - Dominic Marsat, who has joined us in the position of Senior Developer.

Dominic boasts tremendous experience in the industry, and we are looking forward to seeing his influence over our future site developments. Welcome to the company Dom! Being an experienced blogger himself, no doubt you'll all soon become familiar with some posts of his own.

Cheers,

Chris.
